When a tooth needs to be removed, many patients want to know how soon it can be replaced. In some cases, a tooth extraction and dental implant can be completed on the same day, but it depends on your oral health, bone support, and the amount of planning needed before treatment.
At Mylo Dental Studio in Dallas, we take a careful approach to extractions and dental implants. Our goal is to make treatment comfortable, precise, and designed for long-term success.
A tooth extraction may be recommended when a tooth is too damaged, infected, loose, or painful to save. Removing the tooth can help protect your surrounding teeth, gums, and overall oral health.
Before recommending treatment, our Dallas dental team evaluates the tooth, reviews your symptoms, and explains your options. If a dental implant is the right next step, we will also discuss whether same-day placement may be possible or if a staged approach would be better.
Sometimes, yes. Same-day tooth extraction and dental implant placement may be an option when the area has enough healthy bone, the gums are stable, and there is no active infection that could affect healing.
However, not every patient is a candidate. If the area needs time to heal or bone grafting is needed, we may recommend placing the implant at a later visit. This does not mean something is wrong - it simply means we are choosing the safest and most predictable timeline for your smile.
At Mylo Dental Studio, we do a majority of guided implants in office. Guided implant placement uses advanced digital planning to help position the implant with accuracy. This process often includes a CBCT scan and an intraoral scan, which allow us to create a custom guide for your procedure.
If we are able to complete the extraction and implant on the same day, we typically need you to come in about a week and a half before treatment. During that visit, we take the CBCT scan and intraoral scan needed to make the surgical guide.
Guided implants can help with:
• More precise implant positioning
• Better planning around bone, nerves, and surrounding teeth
• A more efficient procedure
• A customized approach based on your mouth
• Stronger support for the final restoration
Because this process is planned in advance, it helps us place the dental implant with greater confidence and accuracy.
Your treatment timeline depends on your needs, but the process may include a tooth evaluation, digital imaging, intraoral scanning, treatment planning, tooth extraction, implant placement, healing time, and a final custom restoration.
If same-day placement is not the best option, we will explain why and walk you through the next steps. Our focus is not rushing the process. It is helping you get a strong, healthy result that looks and feels natural.
Dental implants are designed to replace the root of a missing tooth and support a custom crown. They can help restore comfortable chewing, clear speech, and confidence in your smile.
They also help support the natural shape of your smile by replacing missing tooth structure. For many Dallas patients, dental implants are a secure, long-term solution after tooth loss.
